Monstera Adansonii Origin information
__________________________________________
The Monstera adansonii, also known as the Adanson's monstera or The Swiss cheese plant, or five holes plant, is native to the Amazonian rainforests of Peru, Ecuador, and Brazil. It is also found in Central and South America, parts of southern Mexico, and the West Indies.

The Monstera adansonii is a flowering plant in the Araceae family. It has large, urn- or boat-shaped leaves with long points. It can grow to be about 60 inches tall.
The Monstera adansonii is similar to the Monstera deliciosa, but it doesn't grow as large. The Monstera deliciosa is native to the tropical forests of southern Mexico, south to Panama.
The Monstera Adansonii Variegated Aurea is a rare, climbing plant with beautiful variegated leaves. The leaves start out green and develop bright yellow variegation that fades to cream over time. Some leaves will remain green.

The Monstera Adansonii Variegated Aurea is similar in shape to the green Monstera Adansonii, but has softer leaves due to lighter expression and lack of chlorophyll in the leaf patterns. It is also more sensitive to light and requires slightly more care than its green form.
It is a low maintenance plant with striking yellow and green variegated leaves. .

The Monstera Adansonii Aurea is a yellow variegated is a cultivar of the Monstera Adansonii plant that was developed in Japan. It has a solid, sectoral and mottled variegation and doesn't burn as easily as the Monstera deliciosa albo.

The Monstera Adansonii is a fast-growing aroid that is best known for the prominent holes on its leaves. It is one of the most readily available and well-known species among Monsteras.

Because this plant is so accessible to many hobbyists, Monstera Adansonii had been given a lot of common names such as swiss cheese plant.
It is a trailing plant so it will look best either in a hanging pot, on a high shelf or with a moss stick it can climb onto to develop more mature foliage.
A climbing Monstera Adansonii produces larger leaves than one trailing our of a hanging basket. Keep your plant in bright, indirect light and humidity above 60%.
We've noticed these respond better to brighter light more so than low light to help encourage variegation.

Growing and Care Tips
-----------------------------------

  • Provide bright, indirect sunlight
  • Keep the soil moist but not soggy
  • Use a chunky, fast-draining soil mix
  • Fertilize every two weeks
  • Keep the plant in temperatures between 65-80°F (18-26°C)
  • Keep the humidity above 60%
  • Prune the plant occasionally
  • Repot the plant into a larger pot
  • Monstera Adansonii is a fast-growing houseplant that can grow up to two feet in a single growing season. In its natural habitat, it can grow to 12 feet or larger.
  • Adansonii plants prefer a chunky, fast-draining soil mix so their roots can breathe better. They also like to stay in moist (but not soggy and wet) soil at all times. If you're buying a substrate for your plant, choose pre-packed orchid mix, aroid potting mix, Expanded clay, expanded shale, LECA, or any products that have good aeration and high surface area.
