🌿 Anthurium papillilaminum 'Fort Sherman' × Open

This seed batch originates from the Fort Sherman form of Anthurium papillilaminum, a Panamanian lineage known for its long, velvety, dark green foliage and slender, angular lobes. The pollen donor is unknown, making this an open-pollinated cross—an opportunity to observe potential outcrossing influence while retaining strong papillilaminum traits.

    🍁 Emergent Leaf Coloration

Juvenile foliage emerges in deep olive to reddish-green tones, with pale veining that intensifies as the leaf expands. As the leaf matures, the surface shifts toward a matte deep green, developing the signature velvety sheen and defined midrib characteristic of Fort Sherman forms.

    🪴 Stature & Form

These seedlings display an elongated, strap-like form with narrow posterior lobes, a classic trait of Fort Sherman genetics. The petioles tend to be upright with moderate cupping in early growth. Leaves are expected to retain a medium size with strong blade definition, slightly undulated margins, and fine texture.

    🌱 Breeding Notes

The seed donor, Anthurium papillilaminum 'Fort Sherman', is a narrow-leaved, Panamanian form recognized for its deep velvet surface and subtle sheen. Though this is an open pollination, traits such as venation clarity, texture, and form stability are expected to remain dominant. Offspring may display subtle variation, offering insight into potential hidden pollen contributions, but should largely follow papillilaminum characteristics.
